Candidate Forum a Success
Rocky Takes Off Gloves in Aggressive Run for U.S. Senate
Sounding an aggressive theme, "Rocky" Raczkowski boldly stated, “Carl Levin: You haven't done the job in 24 years, we're not going to give you another six!”
His comments came during the Eastside Republican Club's candidate forum February 19, 2002. Also featured at the event was Terri Land, campaigning for Republican nomination for Secretary of State.
Raczkowski, just eight years old when Carl Levin was first elected, remarked, "I'm a young candidate with energy and enthusiasm!" "I can win!” he declared.
"Rocky" Favors Strong Defense
Running hard for the U.S. Senate, Raczkowski favors eliminating taxes on Social Security, and supports the military, the Bush stimulus package, road funding, and the proposed missile defense shield. “I happen to be in the military, and wear the uniform proudly." He characterized Levin as one who has done virtually nothing for the military, saying, "he's never worn a uniform. In fact, Levin even pledges to cut military spending.”
“After 24 years, it's time to buy him a gold watch and send him on his way!”
Land Pledges Customer Service
Land's campaign is built on her pledge to continue Secretary Candice Miller's legacy of improved customer service, and running fair and accurate elections.
She also proposes taking advantage of the magnetic strips on new Michigan licenses to speed up lines at the polls, and to cut down on voter fraud. In addition, she offers creative ideas for facilitating the disposal of abandoned/junked cars.
Land and Raczkowski both answered questions from the audience following their remarks at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. >> See more photos.
