Eastsider's Join Other Michigan Republicans
In Grand Rapids for State Convention
District 13 delegates joined Republicans statewide on January 25 in Grand Rapids to elect Betsy DeVos as Michigan's GOP chairman.
DeVos, a local precinct delegate since 1982, has served as county and district GOP chairman, national committeewoman, and was state party chairman from 1996-2000. She lives with her husband and four children in Ada, Mich.
In other State Convention business, delegates voted to fill state vice chairman positions and on issues dealing with charter schools, presidential primary voting, and federal tax relief. In a close race, Macomb County young Republican Jared Maynard was elected by delegates to work with and represent youth.
In a Friday, January 24, caucus, delegates elected officers to serve for the convention, as well as district representatives to the Republican State Committee who will serve two-year terms.
