Candidates participating in the forum were Grano, Lang, Simon, Stempfle, and Waldmeir.
"This was a great opportunity to meet these candidates and to learn about their qualifications and platforms," said Julie Corbett, ERC chairman. "The audience was given time to direct questions to the candidates," she added.
The Republican nominee for State Representative will be determined in the August 5, 2008, primary election and will be the Republican candidate in the November 4, 2008, General Election.
Corbett said, “Our State Representative is our voice in Lansing, and with the problems facing Michigan, we need a state representative who will fight for our views and values.”
She encourages citizens to vote either in person at the polls or via absentee ballot. She said, “Every vote is important--remember, we had a tie vote in the last Grosse Pointe City council race.”
The Eastside Republican Club Forum is normally held on the third Tuesday of the month from September through June. Admission is free and the public is always welcome.
